Nazgulum/Black - Red Dawn Before Armageddon/2005 Demo Review

Nazgulum  are  a  band  from  Russia  that  played  a  very  raw  and  primitive  from  of  black  metal  on  this  recording  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  self  released  2005  demo  "Black  -  Red  Dawn  Before  Armageddon".

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  strong  and  powerful  sound  with  primitive  black  metal  riffing  that  dominates  throughout  the  recording,  as  for  the  folk  instruments  they  are  only  use  on  the  last  song  to  add  more  of  a  dark  atmosphere  to  the  music.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  old  school  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  raw  and  primitive  sounding  in  the  early  90's  tradition  with  the  influences  sounding  more  French  than  anything  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording.

Vocals  are  mostly  grim  sounding  and  high  pitched  black  metal  screams  with  some  deep  growls  being  utilized  at  times,  while  the  lyrics  cover  anti  christian  and  darkness  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sound  while  you  can  still  hear  all  of  the  musical  instruments  that  are  present  on  this  recording.

In  my  opinion  Nazgulum  played  a  very  great  sounding  grim,  old  school  form  of  black  metal  on  this  recording  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  demo.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Kick  Jesus'  Ass"  and  "Voices  From  The  Night".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
