Shadows In The Crypt/Cryptic Communications/Horror Pain Gore Death Productions/2012 CD Review

Shadows  In  The  Crypt  are  a  band  from  Pennsylvania  that  plays  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  form  of  black  metal  and  this  is  a  review  of  their  2012  album  "Cryptic  Communications"  which  was  released  by  Horror  Pain  Gore  Death  Productions.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  a  good  amount  of  blast  beats  being  thrown  into  the  music  at  times,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  very  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  black  metal  riffs  that  are  very  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  sounding  with  some  influences  from  thrash  and  death  metal  as  well  as  some  dark  sounding  melodies  being  thrown  into  the  riffing  in  addition  there  is  a  brief  use  of  clean  playing  being  utilized  on  a  couple  of  songs,  while  the  lead  guitars  are very  chaotic  and  melodic  sounding  black  metal  guitar  solos  and  leads,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  which  are  only  utilized  briefly  they  use  finger  picking  to  enhance  the  darkness  that  is  coming  out  of  the  music.

Vocals  range  from  high  pitched  and  grim  sounding  black  metal  screams  mixed  in  with  some  deep growls  and  clean  singing  as well as  a  brief  use  of  spoken  word  parts,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark,  occult,  goat  worship,  and  anti  christian  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  raw  and  primitive  sound.

In  my  opinion  Shadows  In  The  Crypt  are  a  very  great  sounding  atmospheric,  old  school,  raw  and  primitive  black  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a f an  of  this  style  of  music,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Embracing  The  Forbidden  Arts"  "The  Baphomental  Affliction"  "As  Shadows  Cover..."  and  "Revolutionary  Genocidal  Madness".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
