Urgehal/Through Thick Fog Till Death/Southern Lord/Agonia Records/2004 CD Review

Urgehal are a band from Norway that plays a very raw and primitive form of satanic black metal and this is a review of their 2004 album "Through Thick Fog Till Death" which was released as a joint effort between Agonia Records and Southern Lord.

Drums range from slow, mid paced to fast drumming with a good amount of blast beats being thrown in at times, while the bass playing has a very dark tone with riffs that follow the riffing that is coming out of the guitars and on the live tracks they sound very powerful.

Rhythm guitars range from slow, mid paced to fast raw and primitive black metal riffs that have a thrash feeling at times, while the lead guitars are very distorted, raw and primitive sounding black metal guitar solos and leads.

Vocals are a mixture of grim sounding and high pitched black metal screams, while the lyrics cover dark, satanic and anti christian  themes, as for the production it has a very dark, raw and primitive sound to it with the last 4 songs on the recording being recorded live.

In my opinion this was a great album from Urgehal and if you are a fan of this band, you probably already own this recording. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Raise The Symbols of Satan" "Satanic Deathlust" "Supreme Blasphemy" and "The Eternal Eclipse". RECOMMENDED BUY.
